Martinsville Va.

Bette and the Reporter from the News and Observer (largest newspaper in NC) met me and Buddy in the Rest Area just outside of Greensboro. We were ready to get busy. The Reporter traveled with us taking tons of photos of us and Buddy working, driving, eating etc. He must have enough for blackmailing us for a lifetime. He is a very easy going fellow and a good reporter as he listens, the first night he got a real introduction to some problems we are fighting.

To both of our surprise he had no idea what the NAU is? He does now. He watched Lou Dobbs entire video on the subject. There were many areas he was not aware of and I believe he came away with a lot of new knowledge he can put to good use.

We had gotten our ticket for parking via the internet and Bette had driven up to the track the day before to pick up the ticket and scope out the parking. We lucked out again, our space was directly against the fence at the 3RD turn in the track. We could actually sit in the drivers seat and watch the race ( well part of it) going on. As you can see some of us were really into that race.

During the race you may as well take a nap and rest up as everyone is concentrating on the track and racers. So we spend the time getting our stomachs full, bags packed for hand outs and in general rest up for the activity that will soon start.

Once that race lets out thousands of people pass by and lots of them are wanting to know what we are doing, who we are and who in the Heck is Ron Paul.. As one fellow said, that was all he has seen for 2 whole days, "Ron Paul, Ron Paul, Ron Paul, Dang I even saw a sign behind a air plane saying Ron Paul"..... Now that shows we are getting some attention with all the signs and TV coverage we managed to get under Scott's expert guidance. He set up a regular instruction series for the Nascar races as he is so familiar with the workings of that event being a pit crew member. His advice and tactics worked.

As proof there was TV coverage check out the photo at the top on the right. note the logo at the bottom. That shot was taken off a TV screen during the broadcast.. Good JOB SCOTT.

Bette went to the first broadcast of the TV show on the Speed Chanel "Raceday" which is broadcast both days Nationally. She did such a good job she got kicked out of the audience... The reason.. she got too much air time.. What a hoot.. She was seen all over the country holding a sign Now you have to remember Bette is 74 yrs old.. the sign said... Ron Paul Revs My Engine... The pictures above are from the following broadcasts and were seen everywhere. My husband called me laughing saying every time the camera panned the audience all he saw was RON PAUL. Now folks you can't get better than that.. Then he called and told me how dumb I was? Yep my husband calling me dumb. The RV was right on the edge of the race track behind a fence and the Blimp has a sky cam in it which they show the crowd and parts of the race.. The RV was on the TV several times, he knew it was us by the paint job but said we should have had a huge sign on the Roof saying Ron PAUL.. guess what folks? He is bringing home the paint today for the roof.. Can you imagine the opportunity we lost due to my ignorance? It won't happen again.

All in all this has been a terrific week end, we needed more people to work the ground but managed with the organizing skills of Scanner Scott from the Charlotte Meet up group to cover the parking lots handing out over 3000 slim jims. This is in one day folks..

Saturday morning we were visited by the Photographer from the news paper. A really nice guy with a keen eye and thirst for knowledge. He is from Japan and so interested in our political process. He followed Scanner Scott everywhere while we were trying to fly the signs which did not co operate as the wind was so strong the balloons wouldn't lift it and keep it up. We did try. Now we have several huge Weather balloons on the way which will lift in the wind so we won't be caught with our signs down again.

Buddy was at his charming best for the whole week end. That little guy brings in more people than you can imagine. I think he is one of Ron Pauls best tools. People come from all over the track to see the monkey and we get a chance to sticker the with a Ron Sticker and hand out information. I can't imagine how much misinformation there is about what kind of monkey he really is as when someone asks we always say he is a RON PAUL REPUBLICAN MONKEY.

The week end is over, I spent Sunday night at the track as traffic was just too bad to try to leave then. Monday morning came and I started home, worn out, the RV is again filthy, full of sand, papers, all kinds of mess, left over food and empty pop cans. It is worth it trust me. This RV has earned every cent we have poured into it with the advertising it does while either parked or on the road. The horns are getting more and more frequent with all the honks for Ron and we get tons of thumbs up signs along the way. Lots of people will go by and all you can see is their cell phone taking photos of the RV on the road. Another sign that someone up there is taking care of us, about 40 miles from home a trucker drove by and motioned me to roll down the window, I did and he told me I had a tire going down. I looked back via the mirror and saw it was low.. but there was no real place to pull over and wait for a tire change so I just kept going. I got all the way home, pulled into the churches parking lot where I park to wait til Tim comes home to back this thing down into our drive way and just as I turned off the engine I heard a loud poof... the tire completely gave way. Tim was up in arms about me driving all that way on a bad tire but the evidence is there. We made it home in one piece thanks to our lucky angel that has ridden with me for the past year. With all the things that have been done to this RV, and natural break downs we have never been hurt or left without help. God has been blessing us and I think it is probably because we are fighting for a truly honest and good man.
