IOWA OR BUST !

Going from NC to Iowa, a long, long way of nothing but mountains for the most part. Tunnels and up and down and lots of extra gas burning to pull this thing up narrow twisting roads..Not my idea of a nice ride. As most of you all know mountains are not my favorite places.

Finally some towns which were at least a change of scenery and everywhere we went we had horns blowing at us, people waving and taking photos. Great exposure for our Candidate.

After driving for miles and miles of nothing but corn and soy beans we did find Wellsburg, the bursting metropolis of 450 people. Ron and Carol had a town hall meeting here on Monday at 3 PM. We were pretty aprehensive about lack of human evidence in this town. The main street was so empty you could have shot a cannon down there and not worried about hitting a single soul. They did have their Town Hall decorated with a few Ron Paul signs which was encouraging.

Ron finally arrived as did about 25 or 30 residents. He is always a gentleman, no matter if there are a thousand or one person he is the same, happy face and exuding his decency. A true diplomat and genuine nice guy.

At Wellsburg there were more supporters from out of state than there were in the town, we met one fellow with a big Ron Paul sign on his truck and found that he had come all the way from Houston to support Ron. Later we met up with another Houston family with 4 other fellow Texans with them. We formed a caravan leaving the Wellsburg area for the next meeting in Mason Iowa. What a sight, all that Ron Paul signage on the road.

In Des Moines we found the Official state office for Ron Paul. These folks have it all together and worked hard getting up all the signs before leading us on to the big Parade for the Fair being held this week.

While waiting for the parade to get going we talked to our old friend Jay ( the DVD guy), he was on a run to Minnesota and was only about 150 miles from our location. After some nagging and begging he agreed to make a detour and meet us with his brand new Peterbuilt Semi at the parade staging area. It didn't take much nagging really as he wanted to be a part of it anyway. He is so proud of this truck, note the polishing of the wheels... and this is Jay in the cab of his Road Warrior.

With a lot of care and duct tape we started on his rig.

By the time we were finished it was decked out with tons of Ron Paul signs even on top of the cab. There were lots of supporters at the parade. NOTE ALL THE KIDS IN YELLOW. These kids all marched and rode in the back of a trailer pulled by a little tractor and had the best time yelling for Ron Paul. These kids are dedicated.

Obama girl came by to see Buddy as did several other candidate supporters but the best sign of the day was below. John Edwards for the HOGS...

In Ames where the Straw Polls are taking place today we met some of our old friends and put faces with names. Jim Palasano, DeDe and Fred Smart among lots of others I will talk about in a later news letter. Below we were getting set up for the Ron Paul Radio Show to go on at the War Wagon. We parked illegally in front of the RONSTOCK concert. What a crowd, we had all kinds of people around getting interviewed by the announcer, all supporting of course Ron Paul.

Ron came out and did a interview at the War Wagon but it was hard to hear what he was saying for all the noise from the people standing around supporting him. The people who heard it on the air said it was very clear but from our place it was hard to understand.

Carol Paul finally got the chance to talk to Buddy, she has been wanting to get to talk to him for months but has always been snatched away for interviews etc but this time took the time Ron was speaking to have a dialog with our little hairy friend. He loved her as does everyone else.

Today we are at the Straw Poll just hanging out and handing out information and trying to convert some of these heathens that support people like Fred Thompson, Hunter, and Mitt Romney etc. Buddy is doing his best to act intelligent so he won't be confused with any Ghouliani people.

We spent the night in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn next to our old friend Bill Steigmeir from about 1 AM until 4 drunks decided to do a tap dance on top of the flag. Yep I am serious, 4 full grown men climbed on top of the RV and were doing a jig up there, waking us up with their whoops and hollering and stomping all over the RV roof. Bill saw what was going on and called the police who arrived and made them leave the lot. I am hoping now that the roof seams were not split and will find out the first time it rains.. We had to be at the parking lot at 4 AM so not much use in going back to bed so will do this news letter and let you all know what we have been doing all this week.

We will leave here for Texas on Sunday, whoa that's tomorrow. I am so worn out I could just lay down and sleep for a week but the Road to The Presidency is calling us and we have to make sure everyone knows who it the only true honest and moral candidate that is running.. That will be our job for the next year till the elections.
